The tricky thing about trends is that they really have us looking backward while giving us the impression that we’re preparing for the future. We often get stuck in thinking that we’re cutting edge when we’re really in that place of responding to what has happened in hopes that it’s still happening so our stores, our products and our customers are all aligned and everyone is happily connecting. Watching the fashion industry fly through life and expecting us all to do the same makes me nervous. Do we really have to move that fast to be in tune with our customers? Thankfully, the trends that we’re interested in don’t move as fast as the fashion industry.
